Food, Growing and the Environment


  • Community Food and Health (Scotland) - has an annual development fund open to groups and agencies in Scotland who would like to improve access to, and take up of, a healthy, varied and balanced diet. Funding from £500 to £3000 is available

  • Community Food Fund - The scheme, administered by staff from Scotland’s Rural College, represents an on-going commitment by the Scottish Government to develop the local food and drink sector

  • The Co-operative Loan Fund - Is entirely funded and run by co-ops, so unlike many conventional lenders we truly understand and actively support democratically owned and controlled enterprises

Community Food Outlets

  • Community Food Initiatives North East - Improves health and well being, contributes to regeneration, increases employability and creates employment in and with disadvantaged and excluded geographical and interest communities

  • Community Food Moray - Sells local produce from its Mosstodloch shop and food outlets

  • North Glasgow Community Food Initiative Vision is to engage people in practical and sustainable food related projects that inspire health and wellbeing and celebrate the diverse nature of the communities of North Glasgow

  • Edinburgh Community Food - Is all about helping people enjoy delicious, fresh healthy food and making sure everyone in our city has access to a healthy diet.

  • Making Local Food Work - A number of guides, toolkits and reoprts available on its website

  • Adding to the Mix - This publication includes the experiences of ten community food initiatives. It looks at how and why they are working in partnership with the private sector, explores the benefits that working in this way can bring, and discusses the challenges that they have encountered
